International Group for Mathematical Creativity and Giftedness (MCG)
    
At the Sixth International Conference on  Creativity in Mathematics Education and the Education of Gifted Students in Riga, Latvia, more than 80 participants from 20 countries established on August 4, 2010, the new
International Group for Mathematical Creativity and Giftedness.

The Group is a professional society designed to support and promote mathematical creativity and giftedness in students of all ages and backgrounds. The founding process started in 2008 in Haifa where a Working Group was established to prepare all necessary steps. There is an Establishing Document to describe the goals of the Group (Mission and Aims) and the organization of the Group with three organs:
  • General Membership Meeting (GMM)
  • Board of 4 Officers
  • International Committee of 12 Members

The meeting in Riga was announced worldwide, the agenda and the Establishing Document also were published in the conference paper ABSTRACTS (ISBN 978-9984-45-212-8). The participants in Riga unanimously accepted the Establishing Document and elected Officers and IC Members as follows:

Membership is open to persons involved in active research in furtherance of the Group's aims, or who are professionally interested in the results of such research. There is a list of Founding Members (those who in Riga discussed and accepted the Establishing Document) and a Membership Application Form for additional members. Interested individuals from around the globe are invited to join the Group.

There was a First Business Meeting of the MCG Board in Riga on 4 August 2010 , please click for the minutes.The Group also has its own website, which will be updated by Roza Leikin (see http://www.igmcg.org/). There also is a creativity website  from the MCG President.

In February 2011 the International Group for Mathematical Creativity and Giftedness (MCG) was approved as an Affiliate Organization of ICMI. After the Founding Conference in Riga in 2010 the Group will have the 7th International Conference on Creativity in Mathematics Education and the Education of Gifted Students MCG 7 in Busan in Korea (15 -18 July 2012), immediately after ICME 12 in Seoul. Already now many MCG members  are planning their contributions for MCG 7 and for ICME 12.
