Abstract

A celebrated result of Waldspurger asserts that the nonvanishing of the theta lift from MP (2) to PGL (2) or PD* is controlled by a combination of local obstructions and the central value of a Hecke L-function. In this lecture we will explain a parallel for an arithmetic theta lift of where the central value is replaced by the central derivative.
