Summary

The basic idea of noncommutative geometry is to study not necessarily commutative algebras in analogy with algebras of functions on geometric spaces. Fundamental tools in in this analysis are various versions of K-theory and cyclic cohomology. In this project we want to refine these tools and study specific applications, including the treatment of index theorems on the basis of locally convex algebras, the connection between the Cuntz semigroup and the dimension functions of Lück, Hochschild and cylic homology for free quantum groups, and a noncommutative approach to equivariant elliptic cohomology.
