Zeit und Ort:

Semester: SS 2014
Zeit: Di 10:30 - 11:30
Ort: SR 1C

Inhalt:

15.4.14 Alina Vdovina (Newcastle/Bonn) Cocompact actions on buildings and their applications

29.4.14 Linus Kramer (Münster) Finitely generated quotients of Lie groups

20.5.14 Rupert McCallum (Münster) Free Subgroups of Special Linear Groups

Abstract: We will explore some sufficient conditions on an element g of SL(n,k) of infinite order for it to be the case that the set of all h in SL(n,k) such that g and h generate a free group of rank two is a Zariski dense subset of SL(n,k).

03.06.14 Antoine Beljean (Münster) A Leray-Serre Spectral Sequence for Eucliean Buildings

24.6.14 Linus Kramer (Münster) Normal subgroups of infinite products of simple groups

Abstract: I will explain how the Cech-Stone compactification of the index set of an infinite product of simple groups detects normal subgroups.

01.07.14 Daniel Skodlerack (Norwich) The trace map between Witt groups

16.7.14 10H30-11H30, Room SR0 Rupert McCallum (Münster) Topological Rigidity of Closed Weyl Transitive Groups of Automorphisms of a Bruhat-Tits tree

Abstract: We shall present an outline of a proof that a closed Weyl transitive group of automorphisms of a Bruhat-Tits tree is topologically rigid in the sense of admitting exactly one locally compact sigma-compact Hausdorff topology compatible with the group operations.
